Right to Repair

They don’t make them like they used to.

“what don’t they make?”

  1. Don’t interrupt me.
  2. Everything

Every product that hits the shelves is designed to fall apart. Take the Apple brand of products. sleek. screwless. unable to be opened. unable to be inspected. unable to be repaired. the only thing you can do is buy the new one.

What you own isn’t yours. Eventually it will break and you will have to get another one. Everything is a subscription, because the product is always shitty. We keep paying more and more for products that get worse and worse.

We need consumer protection laws that allow you to really own what you buy. You should be allowed to educate yourself on the internal workings. You should be able to repair it, customize it, maybe even upgrade it. whatever ‘it’ is, the user experience could be better.

For my gamers in the chat, this is Valve vs Nintendo on the subject of modding. Do you want to live in the valve world, or the Nintendo world.
