Fundamental Human Rights
The American government must sign onto the UN charter of Human Rights and enshrine it into our constitution.
Food. Water. Shelter. Community. Healthcare. These are the foundational elements of a decent life. Everyone deserves these things. To say otherwise is evil.
We have enough homes to house everyone. we don’t even need to build any more, we just have to open the door. We have enough food to feed everyone, we just have to put it on plates instead of in landfills. Every yard in America could be a garden. We already have more than enough for everyone, and we don’t even have to charge for it. We have enough water for everyone, but we’re losing it to grass lawns, monsanto corp, and AI data centers. None of which humans need.
Every town, every village, every hamlet, everywhere you go, you should be able to find a library with books, games, seeds, a computer, internet, a cafeteria, meeting spaces and performing art spaces, temporary shelter for wanderers and passers-by, the tools required for constructing tinkering and inventing, and instruments for art and self expression. public goods that benefit all, should be available to all.
Nobody should ever be far from top notch healthcare within our borders. We need to invest heavily in our rural hospitals where they exist, restore hospitals that have been closed, and open new hospitals wherever they are needed.
That’s all the stuff we NEED to survive. Now lets talk about the stuff that makes life easier.
Hot water and air conditioning are a must, as is proper insulation, unleaded pipes, and sturdy foundations. Dishwashers and Laundry machines are cost effective and water efficient, It would be dumb of us NOT to provide these. and finally, a heating element for cooking.
Electricity. It’s the backbone of our modern digital reality. Unless we plan to return to monkey, we’re gonna need it. So electricity and high speed internet access should also be publicly available goods, so no American faces a roadblock on their way to engage with the world.
